saveourstudio
SaveOurStudio is a multimedia documentary that highlights four artists in Dorchester, just months before their studio closes. Using digital video and 3D scanning, the documentary captures them in their individual spaces as they discuss what their studio means to them, and what it would mean if they were to lose the cultural hub.
SaveOurStudio was shown at the Boston Art Review Annual Gala alongside Illuminus at the Revere Hotel in Boston. As event-goers participated in auctions and engaged in a night of art, the film hung above their heads, projected onto clear plastic, speaking silently (through subtitles) the words of local artists on the brink of losing their studio space to rising rents and a changing city. Additionally, guests were airdropped and prompted to scan a QR code as the video played which led them to more information on the history of the studio, and how they might be able to support the local artists.
The video intended for installation showcases 3D renders and employs text-to-image AI-generated filters to highlight the transition from the physical presence of an artist to their displacement and eventual abandonment.
While viewing the muti-channel video installation, viewers were airdropped a link with more information surrounding the history of the studio and how to offer support. You can view the link by clicking below.
